Podiums & PA SystemsPodiums & PA Systems

Podiums, also known as floor lecterns, are the perfect housings for powerful PA systems.

While all podiums add elegance to a venue, they come in a variety of shapes and sizes, so it's a matter of personal taste as to which style has the greatest appeal. That said, podiums can be objectively judged on four major criteria:

  • durability
  • portability
  • the quality of a podium's built-in PA system (including its optional features)
  • price

We have examined three of the best manufacturers of podiums with PA systems on these criteria - AmpliVox, Anchor Audio and Sound Craft and offer our opinions on the best features of each.

Read all about it in our product review of Podiums & PA Systems

Please Note:  AudioLinks.com is currently offering extraordinary discounts on these and other podiums with built-in PA systems.

Q & A with AudioManDo you have pro-audio questions? AudioMan's got answers!

Sadiq O.
asks:

I am hard of hearing in one ear. Is there any type of headset that let's me listen to my stereo CD's in my good ear?

Hi Sadiq,

Consider the Williams Sound EAR 013 single mini earbud earphone. It was originally designed to work with a variety of Assistive Listening Devices, but we have found that when connected to a stereo device, it renders that signal into a Mono format. So now you can hear all the parts of your favorite songs through one earphone!

Hope this helps!

John M. wants to know:

I'm a personal trainer. My wireless microphone works fine in the gym, but on nice days I like to take my class out to a nearby park. What can I use that will let me be heard by the whole class outdoors?

Hello John,

The Amplivox S206 BeltBlaster personal waistband amplifier is the perfect solution for any personal trainer, teacher or tour guide who needs to project their voice to a small group within a 50 foot radius. Included are both a lapel and headband microphone which plug into the amplifier. The speaker straps comfortably around your waist and has a muscular output of 5 watts. This should be a perfect solution for you!

Enjoy your days in the park!

Cliff C. sent in this request for advice:

I am looking for a wireless microphone as unobtrusive as I can find that will work in a church setting. It should work within 150 feet without any wires running to the bodypack. Do they make such a thing? Thanks!

Hi Cliff,

There is such a wireless mic system! It's made by Samson Audio and is appropriately enough called the "Airline" system. The Samson Airline SWQSCV uses a micro receiver with balanced outputs for 150 feet of wireless operating range. The headset transmitter attaches right to the lightweight headband and broadcasts on the UHF band, ensuring a clear signal without interference. The transmitter can be powered by the included 110V transformer or it can run on 2 AAA batteries for up to 14 hours. It's about as an unobtrusive a transmitter as you can buy!

Thanks for your inquiry!
