Q & A with AudioManDo you have pro-audio questions? AudioMan's got answers!

Danielle M. asks:

I work in an auto assembly plant and am looking for FM tour guide equipment that can handle two groups at the same time, in the same area. Your multi-channel tour guide system looks like what I need, but I would like to know if there will be any cross-talk* problems? Can you help?

Hi Danielle,

Take a look at this entry in the AudioLink A/V Glossary:

"Cross-talk: Unwanted breakthrough of one channel into another."

The transmitters included in the Muti-Channel FM Tour Guide System
(an AudioLink exclusive!) are pre tuned to channels which are separated by enough bandwidth so as not to interfere with each other. That makes our system particularly well suited for your purpose, and all the feedback we have had from users has been great!

(Note: our puns are always intended).

Thanks for writing!

Hanna K. sent in this request:

Our church has been recording sermons and we would like to make copies of the tapes. Is it possible to make more than four copies at once?

Thanks!

Hi Hanna,

Although the CD duplicators have been transforming the market, there is still one major manufacturer dedicated to duplicating cassette tapes - Recordex Manufacturing, USA.

They make a rugged and reliable system known as the Sound Master which duplicates four copies from the original and offer expansion modules which increase capacity by a factor of four tapes per unit. In theory, by daisy chaining multiple units together the throughput volume has an enormous potential.

By the way if you are duplicating tapes don't forget that AudioLink sells blank media: take a look at our blank tape section.

Thanks for your inquiry!

Abby R. wants to know:

We are thinking of purchasing a PA system for our meetings. I see you rent them. What's the advantages to renting instead of buying? Thanks.

Hello Abby,

There are advantages to buying a portable PA system as well as renting We offer both options. As a rule of thumb if you intend to use a system frequently consider a purchase, otherwise rent first, last and always. Renting also has the advantage of allowing you to field test equipment before buying and accomodate different configurations without major capital outlays.

For further information please see our discussion of rental options - "Rental Equipment and Lease Options"

Hope this helps!

Keep those calls, cards and letters coming. Maybe we'll feature your question in an upcoming issue!
